FZR 1000 Genesis -Sell/Swap

This bike is a 1987 model on an "E" plate, it is in reasonable condition for its age and would not take much work to bring up to standard.

I would like to sell or swap my 1987 FZR 1000 Genesis for an MG Midget or Triumph Spitfire. Can be a part finished project/ accident damaged. I would also consider a car is need of more work if it had a V6 or V8 engine - regardless of make or model (must still be a classic).

I am not expecting a perfect example but would like one with either an MOT or not too much work required to get one.

On this page you will find a description of everything that is wrong with the bike. The reason for this is that I want you to know exactly what you are getting. Don't be put off though as the bike looks very good as is. It would look fantastic with a very small amount of work! Please send pictures to the address below.

Please, please please...do NOT bid unless you want to buy this bike. The winning bidder is agreeing to BUY it ... NOT just view it. If unsure....PLEASE come and view it first. Any non-paying bidders will be reported to eBay and negative feedback WILL be left.

The bike is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the auction early if necessary although I will try not to, especially if reserve has been met.

The engine on this bike is superb! it starts with no trouble and runs very smoothly. It has had a stage 1 tune and dyno'd at 125bhp at rear wheel it also has Dyna coils and Taylor leads fitted, but currently has a standard pipe which masks the improvement in power. It can easily keep up with most modern superbikes. I have seen over 160mph with a race can fitted. (on a race track obviously!)

The bike is Taxed and MOT'd until the end of April 2004

I can't guarantee the mileage as the clock are replacements but they read 20800 miles which don't sound to far off as I haven't done many in the last 6 years.

When I bought the bike it had had a front end bump, this had bent the original forks. These where replaced with larger diameter EXUP forks 43mm instead of 41mm. Yolks, etc having been replaced or machined as needed.  These now need new seals. It has just had new front wheel bearings - only done about 100miles since.

The bike has some damage to the side panels (see right), these could either be repaired using plastic welding or replaced - the parts are fairly cheap from motorcycle breakers. The general look of the paint work could do with a facelift a good re-spray would make the bike 100% better! The choice is your but the results could be great for only a small outlay. The top fairing has had some plastic welding - as you can see from the pictures this is hardly noticeable and would be hidden by a re-spray. Both fairing lowers are in reasonable condition with only minor scuffs. frame etc. is ok.

The frame has been polished and is easy to keep clean - a quick wipe with some auto sol works wonders.

The front tyre is a soft compound Michelin Pilot which is a bit heavy on the steering at slow speed but at speeds over 20mph it is light and grips like glue on the corners! Never have to worry about losing the front again! The rear is a Bridgestone bt57 both are in good condition with plenty of tread.

The exhaust has been changed to an original as the competition race system I had was steel and rusted away!
